Song to Silence
Ranee Kumar, presently based at Hyderabad, a journalist by profession has worked with mainstream newspapers from Hyderabad like Deccan Chronicle, New Indian Express and The Hindu with a short stint on News Desk of Doordarshan. A post-graduate in English Literature with a PG Diploma in Journalism, she was born into a Tamil-Telugu family that originally hailed from Kanchipuram. But most of her growing up years, education and stay was in Hyderabad. Trained in classical dance and Carnatic music she took to freelancing in art and culture for The Hindu.
With a flair for creative writing, she dabbled into poetry and short stories for college magazines and later did translations of saint-poets’ works like Annamacharya newly unearthed keertanas and Andal Tiruppavai-the latter was published by TTD.
Song to Silence is her first novel.
